VERMONT GROWN. SERVING NEW ENGLAND & BEYOND.
Healthy soil.
Healthy food.
Healthy people.
Our health begins in the ground.
Farm on the River has been growing certified organic vegetables for over 30 years. We understand that by building soil through sustainable farming practices we can produce the must nutrient-dense and and delicious food for community members across our region.
The case for Local & Organic
Sourcing locally and organically amplifies the impact of any Food is Medicine program by ensuring clean, safe food that aligns with institutional values. Our vegetables go from our field to your site within 24 to 48 hours, preserving the nutritional value that makes the intervention clinically meaningful.
Certified Organic produce is non-GMO and free from synthetic pesticides, herbicides, and chemical fertilizers, reducing patients' toxic burden while delivering measurably higher levels of vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals.
When your program sources from Farm on the River, you are not just providing food access — you are providing premium quality produce fresh from the farm.

Our roots run deep
For over 30 years, we have pioneered the farm box model with a focus on food as medicine.
Our Experience & Expertise
We pioneered the creation of one of the largest CSA programs in the northeast in the 1990’s, so we understand the logistics, the seasonality, the distribution requirements, and the commitment it takes to show up reliably, week after week, for the people who depend on us. We are ready to bring that same commitment to your Food is Medicine program.
A History of Partnership in Health
For over a decade, we partnered with the United Way of New York City to grown and distribute thousands of pounds of produce through their Local Produce Link program. We were able to reach hundreds of customers each week with our nutritious organic produce through a network of food pantries and soup kitchens.
Our Chef/Farmer
Farmer/owner Matt Kurek is a graduate of the Natural Gourmet Institute in New York City. Founded in 1977, the school was at the forefront of health supportive cooking education, teaching whole, seasonal foods and the healing properties of food alongside classical culinary technique. Matt went on to cook in several of the city's vegan restaurants before turning to farming. That training shapes everything we grow. We farm with a chef's eye, choosing each crop for its nutrition and flavor.
Recipes & Kitchen Support
At a partner’s request, we can create customized box enclosures — digital and print — written by our in-house chef and a RDN, featuring recipes, nutrition information, storage guidance and stories from the farm, beautifully presented with full-color photography. These materials can be co-branded with your organization.
We bridge the gap between fresh food access and real health outcomes by equipping your community with the produce, recipes, and support to build lasting habits.

How it works
1. Program Design
We begin by understanding your patient population, program goals, and funding structure. Together, we determine box size, delivery frequency, and program duration.
2. Box Curation
Each box contains a curated selection of Certified Organic vegetables from our harvest, chosen for variety and nutritional value. Boxes are available in several sizes. For programs serving a specific patient population, such as those managing diabetes or cardiac conditions, we can prepare a uniform condition-focused box for the entire program, designed with guidance from a registered dietitian nutritionist.
3. Harvest and Packing
Produce is harvested and packed on our farm under CAPS+LGS food safety certification, so each box arrives fresh and at peak quality. Delivered within 24 to 48 hours of harvest to preserve maximum nutrient content.
4. Delivery
Boxes are delivered straight from the farm to clinics, hospitals, designated redemption sites, or partner locations for patient collection. Where home delivery is preferred, each box can be individually labeled and prepared for home delivery by a partner delivery/courier service. Home delivery is only available in select regions. Data handling protocols are scaled to meet each partner's compliance requirements.
5. Education and Support
At a partner's request, each box can include our weekly newsletter, which features recipes and menu plans developed by nutritionists and chefs, produce storage guidance, and stories from the farm. The newsletter can be co-branded with your organization.
6. Reporting
We provide detailed delivery records, including box counts, contents, and value, to support your program reporting and funding requirements.
We align technical insight with disciplined execution to provide measurable gains across operational, financial, and strategic domains.
